«Ion» by Euripides
Ion, the future leader of the Ionian tribe, the Athenians, arrives center stage while Creusa, his mother, is seated among the audience, incognita. The hero is enchanted by this strange woman, feeling a mysterious kinship, a peculiar bond existing between them. In order to win her attention and perhaps love, he starts narrating his adventurous story to her. Shortly after, they will recognize each other.
A contemporary staging of the ancient tragedy following ancient traces, translated from ancient Greek and directed by Ioli Andreadi, starring awarded actor Konstantinos Bibis, renowned Greek actress Dimitra Hatoupi and famous percussionist Nikos Touliatos live on stage.
The show opened the 1st Laboratory of Ancient Drama at Krinides, that produced by the Municipal Theatre of Kavala and by the Philippi Festival 2017, then toured all Greece under the wings of Alfa Idea Theatre and was subsequently accepted as part of the repertory of The Tank theatre in Manhattan to be presented there in spring 2019 with English subtitles.
It is completing its Greek summer tour with an exclusive performance on the 22nd of September, 5 pm, at ACROPOLIS archaeological site, southern aisle.
Analogio Festival, member of EFA/EFFE (European Festivals Association/ Europe for Festivals- Festivals for Europe), a successful institution dedicated to the theatre and contemporary writing, is organized for the 15th continual year, 21- 27 September 2018.
