He has worked in various jobs, always related to art (translation of essays and literature, editing of art, philosophy, and literature books, programs and scripts for state radio and television, teaching Greek language and poetry at English-speaking colleges, teaching translation, journalism in literary newspaper supplements). She has published ten poetry collections, eleven plays, five prose works, four volumes of criticism and studies, and has compiled an anthology of 20th-century foreign poetry (a selection of Greek translations). Her plays include: The Clown (first read by D. N. Maronitis on Greek Radio, December 1983), Reality Is Always Here (Karolos Koun Art Theater, 1990-1991 theater season), A Stolen Kiss (Fournos Theater, 1996-1997 theater season), Family Affair (1998), The Meal (1998), When the Wolf is Not Here (Analogio International Festival, 2005), The Meaning (Center for Speech & Art 104, March 2008), I Am Here (Simeio Theater, December 2010), The Moon Has Set (Analogio International Festival, 2010), One Two Three (International Analogio Festival, 2011), The Solitaire (Athens Festival, 2015), The Tree (International Analogio Festival, 2013). Her theatrical works until 2009 have been collected in the volume Maria Laïna: Complete Plays (Aigokeros, Dramaturgia 2009). Her works have been translated into many languages, both independently and in anthologies. In 2022, she was awarded the Grand State Prize for Literature. She has been honored with the State Prize for Poetry (1993), the Cavafy Prize (1996), and the Maria Callas Prize of the Third Program of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (1998). In 2014, she was awarded the Kostas and Eleni Ourani Foundation Prize for her entire poetic work. She is a founding member of the Society of Authors.
