Psychoanalyst, writer, translator. Born in Kavala, he died in Paris where he spent the last years of his life. He was married to playwright Loula Anagnostaki. Spent his childhood in Thessaloniki, where he studied medicine, continuing in Paris and specializing in psychiatry and neurolinguistics, and in 1962 he moved to Athens. His story Peisistratos, published in 1960 in Thessaloniki, won the city’s Literature Award. He published also: Excursion (1964), Novel (1966), Doctor Ineotis (1971), The Wedding (1974), The brother (1975), Builders (1979), My travels (1984), The poet’s enemy (1990), and the essays 6 lessons on Speech (1984), Seventh Lesson on Speech (1984), The dejected Renaissance (1987), The dreams of insomnia (1994), Ninth Lesson on Speech (2001). He translated Sophocles’ Electra, Euripides’ Bacchae, Medea and Orestis, Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Macbeth. He also wrote libretti for operas. His unpublished play Phaedra, a tragedy/opera in two acts and nine scenes, was first staged in ANALOGIO 2010 by the Volos Theatre Club, directed by Spyros Vrachoritis.
