Comic-strip creator, writer. Copi (Raul Damonte Botana) was born in Buenos Aires and settled in Paris in 1961. He became world famous as a comic-strip creator, particularly through the stories of “La Femme Assise” which were published in Le Nouvel Observateur. He has contributed also to periodicals such as Tia Vicenta, Quatro Patas, Twenty, Bizzare, Hara Kiri and Charlie Hebdo, and has written a series of short stories (Le Bal des folles, La vie est un tango. etc.). In the theatre he appeared first as an actor and then as playwright; he gave memorable performances in Genet’s Maids and in his own monologues Loretta Strong and Le Frigo. Copi left behind around 15 plays, novellas and novels, many comics and some poetry. His plays were first staged in Paris by famous directors (Jorge Lavelli, Alfredo Arias, Jerome Savary) and performed by distinguished actors (Maria Casares, Pierre Clementi), and have been translated and produced in many countries. In Greece he became known through the comics published in Babel and Para Pente magazines. His play The four twins was presented in ANALOGIO 2015 in a translation by Nektarios-Georgios Konstantinidis.
