Mentis Panagiotis
Panagiotis Mentis was born in Piraeus in 1953. He studied theatre at the Pelos Katselis Drama School. As a playwright, he has received two Greek State Awards from the Ministry of Culture for his plays Playmobil in 1989 and Anna I Said! in 1994. In 1997, he received an honorary distinction from the Onassis Foundation for his play Save, and in 2001 he was awarded the Third International Prize for his play Foreigners. Thirty-five of his plays have been staged at the Karolos Koun Art Theatre, Stoa Theatre, the National Theatre of Greece, the National Theatre of Northern Greece, as well as at the Municipal Regional Theatres of Serres, Crete, Kavala, Corfu, Roumeli and elsewhere. In 2007, his novel The Unprotected was published by Kedros. Aigokeros Publications has published five volumes containing 20 of his plays in the series Complete Plays. The same publisher has also released Roza, House of Macbeth, The Search and The Palace in Ano Toumba in its theatre series. Kedros Publications has published Save, Away from Home and National Gallery. He is President of the Greek Playwrights’ Association. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Theatre of Northern Greece and as Artistic Director of the Municipal Regional Theatre of Serres.
