Professor Emerita of Theatre Studies at the University of Thessaloniki. Her teaching and research centres mainly on the English and syncretic theatre, culture studies and gender studies and the theory of performance (in particular on phenomenology) — fields in which she has written essays, articles or chapters in international journals and collective volumes. More recently she has been focusing on the question of tragedy and melancholia, as well as on urban space and performance and contemporary interactive audiences. Her books include Pinter’s Female Portraits (Macmillan, 1988), Synchrono Gynaikeio Theatro (Ellinika Grammata, 2006; Epikentro, 2012) and Theatro- Aisthitiki-Politiki: Peridiavazontas ti vretaniki skini sto gyrisma tis hilietias (Papazissis, 2012). She has been invited by numerous British and American universities as researcher and lecturer. She is an active member of international theatre companies and sits on the editorial committees of Greek and international journals. For ANALOGIO she translated plays and wrote theoretical texts on playwrights.
