Spyros Vrachoritis is a Greek theatre director. He was born in Ioannina and studied law and directing in Athens, later continuing his studies in theatre in Nancy and ethnographic cinema in Paris as a scholar of the French government. From the 1970s onward, he became closely associated with the Theatrical Club of Volos, directing both classical and contemporary works and adapting major literary texts for the stage. His production of Sophocles’ Antigone in the original Greek toured international festivals and received a UNESCO award at Expo ’92 in Seville.
