THE 7:45 pm RIFT (AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!)
Monologue
Based on the playwright’s own short story of the same name
The play
Every person has their fault line, through which they seep out, along with all they believe about themselves, what we term “personality”.
Iason, a humiliated, put-upon teacher, discovers the opposite: a fragmentation point not for himself, but for his three-dimensional environment, from which he can choose to seep into another dimension, another way of existing. The hermetically closed and air-tight system of his life has now fragmented. And his only longing now is to live that magical “again”, which for a single moment was revealed to him. To make the fault line a rift.
Or will perhaps the timespan for happiness in humans always be too short?
Excerpt from the play
And if the others thought that I was always spaced out, someone with a certain access, perhaps, to something else, beyond reality, it looked that way, because, very simply, … I found reality here to be particularly pointless. Yes, absolutely boring. I told you already that my only joy was a piss at the end of the day, why are you talking about daydreams, mysticism and poetry and all kinds of bullshit… No man, that sort of thing didn’t go for me. Never. However…
