The confessions of a cat
The play
A cat on the balcony of an apartment belonging to a middle class family, comprising “mummy” –an attorney- “daddy” –a teacher- and her “brother” – their eight-year-old son.
Kitty has it all: Love, good food, vets, calm, cuddles; and is fully integrated into human society.
This cat learns to handle a computer, to love good books, she likes to observe, to criticise and slowly starts to comprehend what is going on around her, to perceive what she wants and doesn’t want, who her friends are and who are her enemies.
A cat on a balcony. What will happen on the day she decides to jump down into the apartment building garden?
Excerpt from the play
I am an animal – that’s what you call me, an “animal” – without ever admitting that I behave like you, a person, would. Unfortunately we cats copy your foolish habits, your idiotic behaviours. You used violence to remove us from our innocence, from our primitive lives and to made us just like you.
