Born in Kerkyra, she studied ancient Greek and Finnish Literature at the University of Helsinki and Modern Greek Literature at the University of Thessaloniki. Her translations and essays have been published in literary journals. She has won the State Award for Translation by Foreign Translator (Finland, 2011) for her translation of the Kalevala, the national epic of Karelia and Finland. Editor of various publications, among which N\u00e4kym\u00e4t\u00f6n ja n\u00e4kyv\u00e4 (The invisible and the visible), a collection of ten Greek short stories in Finnish published in 2000 by the Finnish Institute of Athens. Member of the Society of Finnish Literature and the Kalevala Society. Works for the Finnish Institute of Athens since 1985. She has translated plays from Finnish and English.
