Born in Andros to Nikolaos Kairis and Assimina (n\u00e9e Kambanaki), and sister of the intellectual, theologian and revolution fighter Theophilos Kairis, who was also her teacher at the school of Kydonies, Asia Minor. She corresponded with Adamantios Korais from her fifteenth year till his death, mainly on the enlightenment of the nation. In 1820 she published in Kydonies her translation of Conseils \u00e0 ma fille by Jean- Nicolas Bouilly, in the foreword urging <em>Greek women to undertake enlightening intellectual and educational action.<\/em> Her Letter of some Greek women to the women philhellenes, co-signed by another 31 Greek women, appealed to European women to extend their moral support to the Greek struggle for independence. In literature she emerged in 1826 with her anonymously published Nikeratos, a three-act drama on the Siege of Messolonghi which was performed in Hermoupolis, Syros the same year. She translated also Eulogium On Marcus Aurelius by the French academician Antoine-L\u00e9onard Thomas, and F\u00e9nelon\u2019s Treatise on the Education of Daughters.
