Actor, director. Studied English literature, graduated from the K. Michailidis Drama School and attended the Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna for two years. He first appears in the theatre in 1973 in Sunday walk, directed by Yorgos Michailidis. This was followed by collaborations with the \u201cAmphitheatre\u201d of Spyros Evangelatos and with \u201cFree Stage\u201d (Eleftheri Skini), as well as with Ellie Lambeti in Children of a lesser god. During those years he played roles from a mainly classic repertory. In 1981 he founded \u201cTHE SCENE\u201d theatre company with another six actors: Dimitris Kataleifos, Anna Kokkinou, Tassos Bantis, Rania Oikonomidou, Vassilis Papavassiliou, Smaragda Smyrneou. From 1982 to 1987 he directed and performed in Heinrich von Kleist\u2019s The broken jug (co-directed with V. Papavassiliou), Carlo Goldoni\u2019s The Boors, Alexander Griboyedov\u2019s Woe from Wit and Giorgos Dialegmenos\u2019s I kiss your face, which earned him the Karolos Koun Directing Award for 1986-1987. In 1988 he founded \u201cTHE new SCENE\u201d, whose repertory spanned classic, new-edge and modern-Greek plays. In 1989 he founded the Ancient Drama Lab which marks his engagement with Greek drama, starting with Sophocles\u2019 Antigone at the Theatre Odou Kykladon and going on to the Cretan Renaissance comedy Katsourbos of Georgios Chortatsis, Chekhov\u2019s Uncle Vanya and Thomas Bernhard\u2019s Ritter, Dene, Voss. In 1995 he produced With power from Kifissia, the satirical comedy of Dimitris Kechaidis and Eleni Chaviara, followed by Moliere\u2019s Misanthrope in which he played Alceste. In 1996 he played in Euripides\u2019 Helen, directed by Yannis Houvardas in Epidaurus. His 1998 production of Dialegmenos\u2019s The night of the owl earned him the Fotos Politis and Karolos Koun Directing Awards. In 1999 he directed Aeschylus\u2019 Persians for the National Theatre of Greece in Epidaurus. In 2000 he directed and performed in Harold Pinter\u2019s Ashes to Ashes. In 2001 he produced Sarah Kane\u2019s Cleansed, introducing the playwright in Greece. In 2003 he presented Loula Anagnostaki\u2019s To You who are listening to me and Sarah Kane\u2019s Crave. In 2004 another Moliere, School for wives. In 2005 he directed Dialegmenos\u2019s Bella Venezia, again receiving the Karolos Koun Directing Award. In 2006 he presented the new version of Sophocles\u2019 Antigone in Epidaurus as part of the Athens Festival. In 2007 he produced and performed in Dostoyevski\u2019s A gentle creature. In 2009 he directed and performed in Howard Barker\u2019s The dying of today. In 2010 he directed Dimitris Dimitriadis\u2019s Interest for the Athens Festival. In 2011 he directed and performed in Harold Pinter\u2019s Greenhouse. He has played in many films by Greek directors. In ANALOGIO he took part in the 2007 Tribute to Dimitris Kechaidis with the latter\u2019s unfinished play Iloveyouallthetime. <\/p>\n\n
