Karagiozis, the shadow puppet who is the eternal Greek, marshals his surrealist humour and negotiations devolve into bargaining at a farmer\u2019s market. A market where everything, tangible and intangible heritage, is on the bargaining table, and in the end Karagiozis manages to snatch from the president a cod\u2019s tail in exchange for a pair of Despo\u2019s tsarouchia clogs, which \u201cstink\u201d.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Excerpt from the play<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TRUMP: I want Kythera, Greenland, Diakofto, Tadjikistan, Upper Toumba, Kalogreza, Lower Cuba, the House of Lords, Lordan the Barbarian, the relics of Saint Gerasimos, the drums of Katsantonis, the Nun\u2019s yard, Lake Tanganyika, Mount Ararat along with Noah, Moses and the Ten Commandments, Guadalupe, Turkmenistan, the Sortie from Messolonghi, Aspasia the hetaera, the Broken Fount, the Colossus of Rhodes, the Hidden Poems of Cavafy, Pericles\u2019 Epitaphios, the <em>Mahabharata<\/em>, Kato Partali, the battle of Stalingrad, the Desert Fox\u2026<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Giannis Soldatos<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Giannis Soldatos was born on the island of Lefkada. He wrote the <em>History of <br\/>Greek Cinema<\/em> and is the editor-in-chief of the publishing house Aigokeros. He was written literary works, plays and books on cinema.
