Excerpt

POLICE OFFICER: You women are obsessed with feeding people.

POLICE INSPECTOR: So, tell me, do you get frequent visits from the police at home?

MOTHER: We sure do, they have been coming here for a long time –since 1946, but some police visits from 1936 as well.

Summary

A police officer, along with a police Inspector, burst into a house of a poor family one night, in order to arrest the son. Such arrests were quite common in the years of the military junta in Greece. The mother, however, was used to having her husband taken away and led to prison in the past. She is disarmingly polite towards the policeman, and treats him with sympathy, good will and understanding.
