ABOUT THE AUTHORS



Kalliopi Exarchou

is an Associate Professor of Theatre Studies at the Department of French Language and Literature of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She teaches History and Theory of Theatre. Her scholarly activity includes books on theatre, publications of articles in Greek and foreign journals as well as in edited volumes of prestigious French publications, presentations at conferences mainly on theatre by French and Greek dramatists, and translations of contemporary French drama. Her literary output includes plays, poetry collections, a novel of constitution, a novel, and a poetic novel. She is a member of the editorial board/poetry editor of the literary magazine “Diodos”, published in Drama.

 


Franz Kafka (1883-1924)

is one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. German-speaking and of Jewish origin, he lived in what is now the Czech Republic and wrote his works in German. His work moves between realism and fantasy, exploring themes of alienation, existential angst, and bureaucratic absurdity. Among his most important books are the novel “The Transformation” (1915) and the novels “The Trial” (1925), “The Tower” (1926) and “America” (1927). “The Warden of the Tomb” is his only play, written in 1916, almost unknown and has not been performed in Greece.

 


Dimitris Pappas

was born in Athens and grew up in Marathon. He studied physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and continued with postgraduate studies in history and philosophy of science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He continued with a PhD thesis at the same university on ‘Consciousness, reduced or emergent property’. He has been professionally involved in teaching science, computer use, and mathematics since 2003. In the past, he has composed and implemented programs for teaching science in original, interactive ways, combining knowledge from different disciplines and even construction skills. He currently works as a data analysis trainer. Artistically, he has acted and directed in amateur companies and has given a series of seminars on theatre (acting, theatre lighting, directing). He has also been involved in music as an amateur for more than twenty years. Three Stories about Water is his first theatre play (published by Ano Teleia).
